A Dynamic Knowledge Base for Students and Instructors
Starting in late 2010, the .NET Micro Framework was released as an Open Source project under the Apache 2.0 license. The source for the product is now available on netmf.codeplex.com. This means that you’ll have access to the Base Class Libraries that were implemented for .NET Micro Framework and the CLR code itself.

This is an open source licensed product made available to you free of charge under the Apache 2.0 license. You are not required to pay any license fees for the use of this product as long as you comply with the terms of the Apache 2.0 license.
The .NET Micro Framework is a great tool for creating devices and learning about embedded programming using world class tools and programming models. Embedded development does not have to be as inefficient as it has in the past now that you can take advantage of all the productivity gains that have been seen on the desktop.
Beyond just using the platform, the .NET Micro Framework is now open to your contributions and extensions. We hope that you will propose product changes and contribute them into the core implementation or as extensions to the product.
