Try it
The SDK is freely downloadable at.NET Micro Framework SDK 4.0 . You can use either the full or the Express version (Visual C# Express) to try the samples and create your own applications. The SDK includes an emulator so that you don't need hardware to try the tools out.
Adapt it to specific hardware
If you need to adapt the platform to specific hardware - either a processor that is not currently supported or for additional peripherals - the .NET Micro Framework Porting Kit is also freely available. The Porting Kit also contains all the source code so that you can modify or expand the platform however you would like.

There is lots of documentation in the SDK but there are also lively discussion forums on MSDN for the SDK and for the Porting Kit.
Discuss your ideas and propose a project
Discussion forums are open to anybody with interest in the .NET Micro Framework. Feel free to use them to find resources for a project, bug fix or connect with peers from around the globe.
